The Quilt Division of the Tombstone Association of the Arts is proud to announce that they will be hosting the 41st Annual Tombstone Quilt Show in February 2022.  The show opens on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.  The shows in the recent past have had over 100 quilts entered, making February “Quilt Month” in Tombstone.  There will be several awards given, including Best of Category, Best of Show, Peoples Choice Award, Best Southwest Theme, and Best Patriotic Theme.  We encourage all quilters to submit entries, the application is available to download from the TAA website.

The drawing for the 2022 Raffle Quilt (currently on display in the Tombstone Art Gallery) and the official presentation of the various awards will be held on Saturday, February 12 at noon.   We will also unveil the Raffle Quilt for 2023.  All proceeds from the Raffle Quilt will go to various local (Tombstone) charities.

So come help us celebrate the art of quilting this February 2022 at the 41st Annual Tombstone Quilt Show!

QUILT TIP Learn to sew a perfect quarter inch seam allowance. Almost all quilt patterns are written with a quarter of an inch seam allowance in mind. When you take two pieces of fabric and get ready to sew them together, you must sew them exactly a quarter of an inch away from the edge of the fabric. For a long time, I thought that a quarter of an inch was the side of my presser foot. I used a standard presser foot that came with my sewing machine. After attributing many many sloppy corners to my own imperfections, I finally threw aside my laziness and measured my seam allowance. Low and behold, it was bigger than a quarter of an inch
